Relative pitch is the skill we use to identify chords that would otherwise be unknown, based on their relationship to a known chord - often called a 'reference' chord. Ie if the chord 'C Major' is played, a person with good relative pitch skills would be able to identify another chord at random, for example a 'G Major' based on their understanding of its relationship to 'C Major'. They might be able to hear an 'E minor' in their head because they can hear the chord that is built on the 3rd degree of the scale. In this game you’ll hear a random diatonic chord from the selected major scale. Identify the chord using the answer buttons - they display the Roman numerals and chord names for the Major scale you have selected. Use Replay Chord or 'R' to hear the chord again, and Next or Space for the next chord. You can use the reference buttons to hear the selected scale or its I chord and you can change the settings anytime in the Game Settings menu. You can also download a score card .png should you like!
